Ehsaas Scholarship Program 2024 Latest Update for Undergraduate Students

Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), introduced the Ehsaas Scholarship Program, which is aimed at helping 50,000 students from middle-class families who cannot afford education expenses including hostel fees. This is the first time such a program has been introduced in Pakistan and is estimated to benefit over 200,000 students in 4 years. Higher education is crucial for overcoming poverty after completing intermediate studies in Pakistan. However, currently, only 0.4% of middle-class families’ adolescents have access to higher education, which is below the national average of 10%. The main objective of the Ehsaas Scholarship Program is to address this inequality.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has provided 30,000 undergraduate scholarships in the past 14 years. The Ehsaas Scholarship Program now covers 50,000 students annually across all four provinces, including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh, and Punjab. To qualify for the scholarship, a student’s family annual income should be less than Rs 45,000. The program aims to benefit 200,000 students over four years by covering full tuition fees and providing a monthly stipend of Rs 4,000 ($50). The online registration for the Ehsaas Scholarship Program is currently open. The program focuses on creating opportunities for young people to access higher education, promoting equal educational opportunities. Half of the scholarships (50%) are allocated for women.
